Belated Best of…Weekend Round-up

In Babies, Books, Cooking, Marriage, Weekend Roundup on July 11, 2011 at 4:22 pm

My sweet little baby boy had become so used to being nursed to sleep and being held while he slept that it became impossible to ever really put him down. Thus, the reason for my belated weekend round-up–Saturday my arms were full and Sunday we spent sleep training! LL is six weeks old on Wednesday (at 2:20am, no less). I had taken a Babywise class during pregnancy, and so transitioned fairly naturally into a three-hour cycle and was prepared to let him “cry it out.” The results, however, were disastrous. My sweet little one sleeps wonderfully at night, but has a very hard time taking naps during the day. The two half-days I tried “CIO” resulted in three consecutive days of an inconsolable baby, an upside-down schedule, and one miserable family. Thanks, however, to this mom, I discovered the Baby Whisperer. HUGE difference. It’s been less than 24 hours, and my baby boy has now been asleep in his own crib for over an hour–and he fell asleep without boob or pacifier. Can I hear an AMEN?!

Best of the web: my favorite links from last week

This Basil and Mint Lemonade sounds delicious AND easy to make. It makes me really want to plant some more basil and mint outside on my patio!

I was watching an old episode of Bones when I heard this song…LOVE it. My favorite line is “I like the way you love me strong and slow”–it reminds me of how my husband loves me. The whole song, in fact, reminds me of our marriage. It’s beautiful.

And of course…

No miracle, but works for us! (Which is kind of a miracle...)

  1. Ooooh! I have both basil and mint in my garden! Thanks for the link!

  2. Thanks for the shout out! I hope you are able to try the lemonade and that you love it as much as I do!

  3. [...] If you’re not following @WholeFoods on twitter, you should be. Great recipes, especially around holidays like this weekend’s! Pretty sure all I’ve done on twitter today is retweet some crazy yummy looking recipes. Sparkling Honey Lemonade in Citrus-Salt Rimmed Glasses is no exception (I think I have a thing for yummy lemonade). [...]
