Sleep.

In Babies on August 7, 2012 at 12:25 am

We just returned from visiting my parents. LL loved every minute of our three-day weekend with Grammy and Pop; so much so, in fact, that he skipped both his naps and hardly slept at all last night. I’ll let you imagine how exhausted I feel. One of the songs I love to sing to him is Moon River–and I think I sang it seventy-two times last night. There was a period of about six months where I would watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s every night. Most evenings, I wouldn’t make it past the opening credits–and always, by the time Holly had finished her breakfast and the instrumental version of Moon River was over, I was fast asleep. Something about the melody and the quiet longing of it all…. And while it did not do my son much good last night, I thought I’d share it with you anyhow.

  1. I really love that song too. I sing it all of the time because there is something so sad, but also hopeful about it.
    Love Rosa Xx

  2. That is my all time favorite book, although you can’t hear Moon River when you read it!

  3. Maybe I will try this some time when I am having trouble sleeping :)
